The Freedom to Choose Something Different by Pema Chödrön
The Freedom to Choose Something Different by Pema Chödrön
Overview
One of the deepest human desires is to be free from suffering. If only we can avoid pain and discomfort, we tell ourselves, freedom can be ours. Who wouldn't desire such a life?
The reality is that we can never completely avoid the inevitable challenges of life. Instead of resisting them, what if we could embrace them and accept them as a wonderful, imperfect wholeness of our experience?
According to Pema Chödrön, a well-regarded teacher, one of the key lessons on the spiritual path is that freedom is found through accepting discomfort, rather than avoiding it. When we let go of our fears, habits, and stories, we can tap into the wisdom that resides within us and discover our true selves.
